The Marion du Pont Scott Colonial Cup is steeplechase horse racing's premier event. Known as 'Where Winners Become Champions' the Colonial Cup draws over 15,000 fans to mingle in a sea of fashions and taste sumptuous tailgate picnics. Excitement mounts as the trumpet calls thundering thoroughbreds to the post for a day of six steeplechase horse races. Traditionally held the third Saturday in November the Colonial Cup provides the season's grand finale often deciding all the national titles including jockey of the year, trainer of the year, and horse of the year. Established in 1970 as part of the state's Tricentennial Celebration, The Colonial Cup is a memorial to the founder of the eminent race meet and benefactress of the course, Marion du Pont Scott. The Colonial Cup is a day to flaunt the latest fall fashions and enjoy elaborate tail gating. In addition the Colonial Cup also features a shopping mecca of boutiques at the Paddock Shops Village, Jack Russell Terrier Trials, as well as free wagon rides. It is a family day in the country enjoying a host of activities to enchant children and adults alike.

Cost: General Admission - $20 prior to 5PM November 6, 2009, $25 after.
General Parking - $10 at the gate.
