Wow, NYC, you make it hard to stay away

Stay at least two nights, with one of them a Sunday, and you’re good to go in New York City with more than 70 different hotels through this deal at NYCgo.com.

You’ll get $50 of hotel credit, or 50 percent off a Sunday night stay this winter, and the same if you return in the summer. Book and stay before February 28.

That’s what we call a “boomerang” deal in the business, because it means you’ll be coming right back.

And there’s also tons of savings on activities there, too.

Half off in Napa

I say, “Half off in Napa!” You say, “Wine!”

Half off in Napa!

(Wine!)

Half off in Napa!

(Wine!)

Just thought we should do a little cheer for this deal: Condo-style accommodations from $99 a night at Vino Bello, the newest Napa luxury resort. Book by December 31 for vacations through February 4.

Online vacation auctions just for Florida

Where has this been all my life?

FloridaVacationAuction.com works a lot like Ebay—bid on stays up to 80 percent off the retail price, or buy direct at a set discounted price (40 to 50 percent off) to ensure your win.

A personally disappointing example: a resort in Sanibel Island at which my family will be vacationing in a few weeks is currently going for 20 percent less what I paid for it somewhere else, and I paid half off originally.

Lesson learned.

(You can also bid on golf and excursions.)

Totally in love with Jane in the West Village

Stupid in love.

The old YMCA in the West Village of NYC has been remade into a boutique-on-the-cheap hotel called the Jane. One hundred bucks a night for 50 square feet of single-bed hip (and use of a shared bathroom), a little more for bunk-beds, and a little more for “Captain’s Cabins” with bathrooms, this is a great place to stay when exploring the city on the cheap.

And check out the history: the Titanic survivors stayed here upon their rescue (hence, the nautical theme), and did I mention it used to be the YMCA?!?! So much transient, rock ’n roll history!

Young girl…there’s a place you can go….

Hello, New York! (Thanks, Marriott.)

Marriott’s Explore New York package is a hot deal in the city this winter.

Choose from several Manhattan Courtyard or full-service Marriott properties (and one dynamite Brooklyn hotel—the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge). With a two-night minimum you get breakfast and your choice of tourist activities, and there are forty different options—from the State of Liberty to the Ground Zero Museum to a tour of Sex and the City hotspots.

Good for stays until September 10, 2010, so imagine a summer day in Central Park, or a bicycle tour of the Brooklyn Bridge too…

Eco Chicago: Hotel Felix

Fabulous green Chicago hotel, Hotel Felix: Where have you been all my life?

As downtown Chicago’s first hotel designed to meet Silver LEED certification guidelines, your many efforts to go green are an inspiration to all hotels. And your Winter Frenzy rates (as low as $89 a night) are not too shabby, either.

I bet your rooms smell delicious, too.

Great rate for new, upscale Boston hotel

The Ames Boston, brand new from the upscale Morgans Hotel Group, is offering a special rate of $124 per night (see specific dates). The suites in this 114-room hotel near historic Beacon Hill have “Romanesque arched windows and original fireplaces.”

That sounds nice, don’t you think?

It’s called the “Gold Coast” for a reason

And that reason is awesomeness. The Diamond Head area of Waikiki beach is half off right now at the boutique hotel Lotus at Diamond Head. Just steps off the beaten path, this hotel is a quiet, lovely retreat in the middle of all that’s shiny and surf-y and sunny in Hawaii. And it starts at $149 a night. That’s a pretty amazing price for gold and diamonds.

Book by January 3.
