Many people travel to Alaska to cruise through the Inside Passage or explore this great state by land. Denali National park attracts visitors from around the world and for good reason.
But what makes Alaska so special? For starters, Alaska is a state of mosts. It is the state with the most land mass in the United States—it’s more than twice the size of Texas and takes up 20% of the land in our country. It boasts the tallest mountain in the U.S. --Mt. McKinley--and also has 16 of the 20 highest mountains in the country. Alaska boasts the most glaciers and also has the most coastline in the country with 3 million lakes and thousands of miles of rivers. This, of course, makes it the perfect place for cruising.
For families looking for a taste of the 49th state, Princess Cruises land and cruise combination package is a fun way to experience everything this state has to offer. The Princess Island cruise ship includes stops along the Inside Passage, including Ketchikan, Skagway and Juneau. What makes the Princess line especially appealing to the younger clientele is the number and variety of excursions offered at each port. For active travelers there’s glacier hiking, dog sledding, rock climbing, heli-hiking and white-water rafting. For those looking for a more laid-back trip, there’s whale-watching cruises, nature walks, city tours and seaplane flights. More excursions are added each year to target both the active clientele and those who like to take things at a slower pace. Recently added excursions include the rain forest rope and zip line challenge--one of the more popular excursions offered in Ketchikan--and the Harley Davidson Motorcycle Tour.
