Spa-Like Camping Retreats
Featured in Better Homes & Gardens,
July 2007
BY JAMES McCOMMONS
When most of us picture a state park in summer, we imagine sublime scenic vistas, hiking mountain trails, swimming in the lake, and cool hours lounging beneath tall shade trees. Today, we might also add to those images comfy beds with clean sheets, gourmet meals, and spa-like pampering. These days, “roughing it” in many state parks is as much about comfort as it is communing with nature. After long days of exploring, hiking, and playing, many vacationers prefer a bed to a bedroll and a hot tub over a cold dip in the lake.
