Louisiana: Come on Down to Louisiana for Mardi Gras

Celebrating Around the State

Also in Cajun Country is Le Festival de Mardi Gras à Lafayette, which begins the Friday before Mardi Gras. Join us down on the bayou for rides and games on the carnival midway, live bands, and parades. The parades also roll through downtown Lafayette, where you can participate in a costume contest and dance in the streets to live Cajun and Zydeco music on Mardi Gras day.

In Natchitoches, families can experience an afternoon of carnival merriment and fun at the Historic Business District Association's Mardi Gras. This afternoon event provides a wide range of activities for children of all ages. Then, the Krewe of Dionysus takes to the streets of Downtown Natchitoches for their annual parade.

And we celebrate Carnival in the Northern portion of the state as well. Mardi Gras in the Ark-La-Tex (Shreveport/Bossier City area) is great fun for the entire family. Over the course of the two parade weekends, there are seven parades with a no-alcohol family zone. Monroe/West Monroe is also a great place for families to celebrate.

Every year, more than 100,000 revelers turn out to see the Krewe of Janus strut their stuff. Everyone should go to Mardi Gras at least once in their life. To plan your Louisiana vacation, visit LouisianaTravel.com.
