One of the highlights is the Boulder Rocks package, for which they quarry stones such as granite and gneiss, as well as gemstones like rose quartz to put together a hot-stone massage and facial.
On the international side, the Lulur treatment was originally utilized in Java to prepare brides-to-be for their wedding day. It's a combination of an Inara Babassu sugar scrub, Jamu massage with jasmine and frangipani oils, following by a scrub with rice, jasmine, and turmeric. It ends with a rose petal bath.
The “body adventures” offer a host of signature scrubs and wraps that exfoliate, hydrate, and nourish the skin while increasing circulation. Offered treatments include Frothy Spearmint Scrub, a bubbly body adventure that invigorates the muscles using an exfoliating mitt to smooth and refresh skin with spearmint, which is indigenous to the Boulder area. Te Babassu Sugar Scrub is a stimulating, 100% organic experience combining sugar and oil from the Babassu Palm for a powerful yet gentle scrub that leaves skin smooth and glowing. The Moisturizing Buttermilk and Honey Wrap is a warm masque of buttermilk and honey that hydrates even the driest skin.
For those looking for a spa getaway in Colorado Springs, look no further than The Broadmoor (800.634.7711; www.broadmoor.com), the longest-running consecutive winner of both the AAA Five-Diamond and the Mobil Travel Guide Five-Star awards. Built in 1918, it is one of the only five-star, five-diamond properties in the United States. In short, it is the grande dame of resorts west of the Mississippi. Boasting amazing fine dining (11 restaurants on property, including the Adam Tihany-designed Summit), golf, and much more, the spa at the Broadmoor is as stunning as the backdrop of Pikes Peak (which, of course, is well worth a visit during your time here).
This full-service 43,000 square foot spa, salon and fitness center features over 100 massage, body, facial, nail, hair and fitness treatments, 12 signature spa treatment combinations for men and women and three boutiques offering beauty, wellness and fashion products along with Trish McEvoy cosmetics.
Among the offerings at the spa is the Gold Shimmer Therapy and Massage. This ritual from Spain includes a rocking massage with bagged and heated volcanic stones; a sparkling and luminous anti-aging gold wrap with precious “golden algae” from the sea; and a unique 20 minute massage with gold star nectar that has a sumptuous texture. The body is left relaxed, tranquil and with a luminous light golden shimmer.
Another favorite is the Mountain Showers Massage. A unique, total sensory experience the treatment mimics a thunderstorm, light showers, and then the sun in full radiance. It begins with an invigorating Vichy shower, followed by a 20 minute light hot stone massage with warm oil under gentle showers. Then the entire body is exfoliated with sun-scented body wash under continuing soft showers which slowly taper off. It’s completed with a velvety earth-scented oil application to leave you soft, silky and refreshed.
Colorado has long since been highly regarded for its outdoor activities and now friends will discover the softer, pampering side of the Rocky Mountain state.
