Attractions Galore
The CityPass booklet includes admission to the Empire State Building Observatory; American Museum of Natural History & Rose Center; Guggenheim Museum; Museum of Modern Art (MoMA); The Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Cloisters; and Circle Line Sightseeing Cruises or Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island.
One of the best reasons to buy CityPass, in addition to the savings, is that for most attractions, you can skip the long lines and instead dash right up to the special “CityPass” window for admission.
At the Empire State Building, travel 1,050 feet above ground to reach the 86th floor Observatory and enjoy 360-degree views in the open-air promenade (or glass enclosed towers for cooler weather).
The American Museum of Natural History was voted the #1 attraction in New York by Zagat and you’ll soon see why. There are over 46 exhibits including the world-famous Dinosaur Halls and the 94-foot-long blue whale in the Milstein Hall of Ocean Life.
The Guggenheim boasts amazing art from the 20th and 21st century. This Frank Lloyd Wright-designed museum is a masterpiece in itself and you’ll enjoy inspecting the art as you walk up the grand ramp that curves from the ground to the dome.
Just down the road is the Metropolitan Museum of Art which showcases over two million works of art spanning 5,000 years of culture. It’s not hard to believe why this is the most-visited tourist attraction in the city.
The Museum of Modern Art is another New York favorite and includes world-famous work by Monet and Picasso.
After visiting the museums and Empire State Building, head out to the waterways of the city by taking either a Circle Line cruise through mid and lower Manhattan or a ferry to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Both excellent ways to get some background history on this great city.
